The Patrick Symphony Series line was developed in collaboration and with input from Members of the Nashville Symphony, New York city based symphony musicians, Robby Garrison, Steve Patrick, and several Nashville studio musicians.
This mouthpiece is unique in design to everything else in the Patrick Mouthpieces’ line. It was designed with modern symphonic demands in mind. If you are sitting in a professional, regional, community orchestra, college orchestra, preparing for the professional audition circuit, or looking to have the staple symphonic trumpet sound, this is the mouthpiece to have.
In the one piece version, it has a 25 drill with a modified 5B size cup. It’s very free blowing but balanced out by the Patrick Classical straight taper back-bore shape. This makes it free blowing in nature but still efficient and brilliant when needed. If you already play on a Patrick Classical Mouthpiece, this back-bore shape is the same, while being much more open and free blowing.
The sound is rich and robust from the bottom of the range to the top. The sound color palette is easily bendable to fit the plethora of demands within symphony orchestra repertoire. Whether you are sitting 4th, 3rd, 2nd, or playing principal trumpet, we are confident this mouthpiece will aid in your music making from Beethoven to Stravinsky.
We are also offering this in a “top only” version with a 24 drill. We understand many symphony players have their own back-bores and would like to sustain that aspect in their set up. This top only version is for those players who prefer to use their own personal back-bore.
We would like to send a special thanks to Robby Garrison in his contributions towards the design of the Symphony Series as well as all those who play tested during the prototype stage of development.
